Illawarra Schools Careers Expo 2019
RDA Far South Coast attended the 2019 Illawarra Schools Career Expo this week to promote the Shoalhaven STEMship program to students. Joining Paul Goodwin from RDA FSC were Matt Triffett and Tim Buckingham from BAE Systems Australia, and Donna Payne from NSW DPC representing the Shoalhaven Defence Industry Group.
STEMship, a VET pre-employment program, is new to the Shoalhaven and gives students the opportunity to obtain work placement in some of the Shoalhaven’s most innovative organisations. The program also includes:
- 17 weeks of mixed training and work placement (25 hours per week)
- Development of STEM skills at a technical level with a nationally accredited Registered Training Organisation
- Industry site tours
The STEMship program is an important part of economic development in the Far South Coast region, bridging the gap between Secondary School and University and opening up opportunities for full-time employment.
Expressions of interest will be opening soon so keep your eyes on the website and our social media pages.
