Drought Transport Subsidy
The NSW Government is committed to supporting primary producers manage the ongoing impacts of drought through a range of targeted assistance measures.
In May 2020, the NSW Government invested an additional $116 million to continue the Drought Transport Subsidy (DTS) program in recognition of the ongoing drought conditions across rural and regional NSW at that time.
The DTS program provides a subsidy to the cost of transporting fodder, water and livestock. To date, more than $200 million in drought transport subsidies have been paid to approximately 13,000 primary producers across NSW.
Invoices for funding under Round 2 of the DTS program must be submitted to the RAA by Wednesday, 30 September. Round 2 of the DTS program includes movements of fodder, water and livestock up to 30 June 2020 in accordance with the program guidelines.
A subsidy is still available under Round 3 of the DTS program, which is currently open and has been expanded to include transport of purchased stock to a farm business. Under Round 3, eligible producers are entitled to a cap of up to $25,000 up to 31 December 2020 or until funding allocation is exhausted, in accordance with the program guidelines.
